PURPOSE:To scale down a pulse width expanding device by using an optical glass with a high refraction factor for a pulse delay mechanism. CONSTITUTION:Out of two beams that a beam splitting mirror 1 splits, the one goes straight and reaches a re-junction mirror 3. The other is multiplex- reflected by the optical delay mechanism 3 made of glass with a high refraction factor, lags behind the former beam and reaches the re-junction mirror 3. By jointing both of them again, a leaser pulse beam with the wide width of a pulse can be obtained. Since the optical glass with a high refraction factor is used as a pulse propagation medium, the length of an actual optical path can be twice its original width. Besides to that, the device can be scaled down because plural pulse divisions are not needed.
