PURPOSE:To make it possible to re-utilize waste such as an electrolytic manganese dioxide extraction residue as an industrial stock material, by using said waste as a stock material and sorting and magnetizing a magnetic substance from said waste under magnetic force in a slurry state. CONSTITUTION:The undissolved substance with a particle size of about 40mum, generated when electrolytic manganese dioxide is manufactured, is formed into a slurry. Because manganese oxide is magnetized under magnetic force of 5,000 gauss or more and manganese ferrite can be recovered under magnetic force of 500-2,000 gauss, magnetic force of 500-2,000 gauss is at first applied in a first stage to recover manganese ferrite which is, in turn, washed and dried to obtain a stock material for ferrite. Next, the slurry not adhered in the first stage is again treated under magnetic force of 5,000-23,000 gauss to recover manganese oxide such as MnO which is, in turn, recovered, washed and dried to obtain a manganese stock material.
