摘要

PURPOSE:To enlarge a rolling reduction of a titanium material and to improve an efficiency of a rolling mill by conveying the titanium material in the state of covering its upper and lower surfaces with steel plates heated to the rolling temperature of the titanium material and performing a hot rolling by removing the steel plates just before the rolling. CONSTITUTION:The upper and lower surfaces of the titanium material/(or titanium base alloy material) travelling on roller tables 2 are covered with the steel plates 3 possessed of temperatures about 1100-950 deg.C. The titanium material 1 whose upper and lower surfaces are held between the heated steel plates 3 is transfered to the rolling mill 4, and immediately before arriving at the rolling mill 4, only the steel plate 3 on the upper surface is removed and the lower steel plate 3 is allowed to pass through the rolling mill 4 as it is thus only the titanium material 1 is subjected to rolling reduction by the rolling mill 4. In this way, because the titanium material can be rolled while maintaining on a proper temperature, the rolling reduction per one pass is enlarged and the problems of the shapes such as a waving camber are improved.
