DIRECT CONNECTION OF LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPH AND MASS SPECTROMETER

PURPOSE:To enable the introduction of a sample introduced from a liquid chromatograph into vacuum without retaining it in a capillary tube, by moving a liquid-gas interface in the capillary tube for direct introduction within a direct connector forward and backward continuously and repeatedly. CONSTITUTION:An elution liquid from a liquid chromatograph 1 is introduced into a capillary tube 2 in a direct connector and vaporized by heating at the tip thereof. Here, the portion from a liquid-gas interface 3 to the tip 3 of the capillary tube is intensely moved forward and a backward continuously and repeatedly. This repeated movement is accomplished by providing a rear heating section 5 behind the capillary tube in addition to a front heating section 4. This enables the introduction of a sample introduced from the chromatograph 1 without retaining it in the capillary tube 2.
