PURPOSE:To enable the selection of a microorganism to meet desired specifications, by measuring specific spectrums of light to find conditions of products, metabolism, secretion and substrates of microorganisms cultured. CONSTITUTION:A measuring system 6 is provided with a spectrophotometric system 8 and a scanning mechanism which scans over a culture container 2 by a light beam from the system. The system 8 is equipped with a spectroscope and a detector. It 8 is also provided with a beam aperture to turn light from the spectroscope to a light beam.
