PURPOSE:To execute the pressure equalization of a hopper for furnace top charging apparatus without using nitrogen, by making a connecting piping between the furnace top hopper and the furnace main body to the communicated condition only at the time of charging the raw material in the blast furnace from the furnace top hopper. CONSTITUTION:At the time of charging the raw material in the furnace from the charging device under high pressure condition, the piping 9, by which the blast furnace gas in the upper face of raw material in the blast furnace 1 is directly communicated to the hopper 5 for the charging apparatus, is arranged and connected to a multiple-unit control device 10 through a connecting valve 11. When the pressure at the hopper 5 for the charging apparatus is become to almost near the pressure at the inner of furnace, the chute 14 in the furnace is driven and then the sealing valve 15 becomes to opening condition, and when the driving conditions for each device in the blast furnace charging apparatus are matched, the control device 10 opens the connecting valve 11 and so the raw material is charged in the furnace by opening a gate valve 16. When the charge of raw material is completed, the control device 10 judges weighing valve by a weigher 19 for the charging material and confirming signal for passing-through of the raw material by a vibrating sensor 20, to close the gate valve 16, and at the same time, the connecting valve 11 is closed to make the connection between the hopper 5 for charging apparatus and the inner part of the blast furnace 1 to the closed state.
