PROCESSING SYSTEM FOR REASONING OF KNOWLEDGE ENGINEERING SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To speed up reasoning by using the heuristic metaknowledge given previously to perform selectively the forward and backward reasonings based on the control information and at the same time by eliminating the conflict state. CONSTITUTION:The production rules stored in a knowledge base KB are compiled by a knowledge base compiler KC and at the same time the control information needed for forward and backward reasonings are collected. Then both forward and backward conflict sets are produced at a time and both forward and backward reasonings obtained by the conflict sets are selectively executed at a metalevel. Here the switch is carried out between the forward and backward reasonings based on the experiential knowledge, i.e., the heuristic knowledge proper to the human problems given previously as the metaknowledge MK. At the same time, the conflict is eliminated and a proper strategy is selected. This action is repeated to obtain fast the reasoning result having high reliability.
