The invention relates to the use of known amides of the formula (I) IMAGE (where the radicals R, R1 and R2 are as defined in the description) as antidotes for improving the crop plant compatibility of herbicidally active sulphonylurea derivatives of the formula (II) IMAGE in which R3 represents an optionally substituted radical from the series comprising alkyl, aralkyl, aryl and heteroaryl, R4 represents an optionally substituted and/or optionally fused six-membered aromatic heterocycle which contains at least one nitrogen atom, and X represents oxygen or sulphur.
