The display cabinet (15) has a min cooling heat exchanger (14) at the front below the customer side of the cabinet. The refrigerant gas is compressed and liquefied before being fed to the main exchanger, where it evaporates and draws heat from the displayed goods. At this stage the gas still has cooling potential and is fed to a number of flat cooling bodies (17) which support the goods. The flat bodies consist of thin-walled capillary tubing sandwiched between an upper (17") and lower (17') plate. The flat bodies are hinged (23) along the front edges to allow cleaning. A temp. sensor (22) in the cabinet diverts the cooling medium to the flat bodies (17) to maintain the air temp. at a level which will preserve the goods and to minimise condensation.
