The mechanism for sorting bulbous or tuberous crops by size comprises a frame carrying a number of parallel rollers rotated (synchronously in the same direction) by a drive. The rollers are provided with aligned annular recesses shaped such that each pair of facing recesses has two pairs of opposed parallel sides (claimed). Each roller preferably consists of a central shaft carrying fixed bead-like elements each having a cylindrical portion between two outwardly converging truncated conical portions which may connect to short cylindrical portions. These elements preferably consist of wear-resistant plastic, e.g. polyamide.
