The installation is intended for processing liquid or partly liquid animal manure to produce solid compost and bio-gas. It comprises a closed steel reactor vessel with annular heater and valved discharged outlet at its lower end and a manhole with cover and an inspection window at its upper end. A manure supply tank connects to the vessel via a supply line which contains a pump and a heat exchanger heated by the gas and water vapour discharge line from the top of the vessel. Downstream of the heat exchanger, this line connects to a water separator, with gas outlet connected to a normal-pressure gasometer USE/ADVANTAGE : Producing high-quality solid compost and gas with high calorific value (largely methane) from wet manure from pigs, poultry, cattle etc.. Also suitable for processing sewage, kitchen waste (swill), food rests, milk powder residue etc.. Relatively inexpensive installation permits continuous operation and, in addition to valuable gas, produces directly usable solid granular compost.
