The sickle shaped cover protects the blade of a skate with an attached boot. The protective cover fits over the blade and is secured by a locking lever. The cover includes a slot (10) for entry of blade (4). Cone shaped boot supports (2,3) enter corresponding holes in the top of the cover. A locking system consists of a pivoting lever (34). A cord (25) has brackets ends (26) enabling the skater to carry the protector when not in use. A soil contacting surface is shaped to improve grip on the soil.
