The burner has mouthpieces for the different fuels arranged concentrically to one another, and has a diverging burner nozzle (28) into which issue the different mouthpieces, and the inputs (13,20,25) for primary, secondary and principal combustion air. The burner mouthpiece for fluid fuel is fitted in the mouth of the primary air input at the small end of the burner nozzle. The primary air input passage forms a diverging venturi type mouthpiece in which guide rails for creating swirl are located. The mouthpiece for fluid fuel has a ring-shaped cooling air channel around it, the inlet end of which is fitted in the primary air inlet (13) ahead of the tighter section of the venturi-type mouthpiece, whilst its outlet end comprises a radially issuing ring-shaped gap outside the radially directed outlet for fluid fuel.
