Each support for a heating element consists of a rod formed at the outer end of a curved clamping hook, whose other end is pointed for easy introduction into the fibres of the refractory ceramic block. A cap or flattened head on the end of each rod retains the electric heating element connected to it. One or more insulating discs or washers define an air gap between the heating element and the hot face of the block. There is also provided an insulating cladding of similar constitution for a furnace wall; a support for an electric heating element for such a module; and a method of installation of modules of this nature with their retaining members and heating elements.
