The present invention relates to a method for unloading fish from the holds of fishing boats and to an installation for implementing it. The containers consist of a bottom 1 equipped with rollers 3 for rolling on rails 12 transverse to the boat and carried by the hold pillars 10, this bottom comprising means 4 for fastening the uprights 6 capable of receiving the crates 9, the unloading implementing a platform 21 comprising rails 23 capable of coming to coincide with the rails 12 carried by the hold pillars 10, this platform being capable of running along the central alley 14 and of being lowered or raised between the level of the rails carrying the lower layer of containers, and the level of the deck, with means 24 for causing each container successively to pass onto the said platform 21 by rolling on the said rails 12-23. The invention permits automatic unloading.
