Pure Lactobacillus fermentum culture - used for treating and preventing gastrointestinal disease in animals

A biologically pure culture lactobacillus fermentum ATCC 53113 and gastrointestinal disease - preventing mutants are new. Pref. the compsn. contains 10 power 3 to 10 power 12 viable organisms/g. and may contain a carrier such as sucrose, lactose or starch and an adjuvant e.g. a saponin deriv. such as Quil A. The organism was isolated from the gut of a healthy newborn pig. The compsn. can also include mutants of the organism or other common gut organisms e.g. bifidus or clostridial bacteria.
