A METHOD OF IMPROVING STEAM FLOOD CONFORMANCEWITH STEAM FLOODING AGENTS WITHOUT A NON-CONDENSABLE GASABSTRACTThe disclosed invention is a group of novel steamfoaming agents for injection with steam to decrease permeabilityin steam sept zones. They are effective without the coinjectionof a non-condensable gas.The foaming agents have the general formula:RO(R'O)nR''SO3Mwhere R is an alkyl radical, branched or linear, having fromabout 15 to about 21 carbon atoms in the alkyl chain, R' is ethylor propyl, n has an average value of about 2 to about 5, R'' isethyl, propyl, hydroxypropyl or butyl and M is an alkali metal orammonium ion.
