ABSTRACTAn apparatus for generating an aerosol powder from amelt includes an atomization die having an orificethrough which the melt passes to create the powder.The orifice is in the size range at and immediately abovethat which is just sufficient to permit continuous generationof such powder. The die may be included in a high-temperature probe suitable for immersion in the melt, sothat accumulated accretions of powder on the walls of theprobe may be melted off by heating the probe.
