ABSTRACT(Fig. 4)ADDING TO SILICA REFRACTORY STRUCTURESA silica refractory structure 8 may be added to, e.g. by way ofrepair, in a working environment at a temperature in excess of 600°C.Such addition is made using one or more vitreous silica bricks 1bonded into position by projecting a mixture comprising finely dividedparticles of exothermically oxidisable material, e.g. Si optionally withA and particles of silica, and burning the mixture during itsprojection to form a coherent refractory mass 9 which bonds the additiontogether and to the original structure 8.
