To separate particles of alkali metal bicarbonate (11) from a liquid film of hydrochloride of a nitrogenous organic base adsorbed at their surface they are dispersed in an aqueous bath (14) and the resulting aqueous suspension is subjected successively to a turbulence (13) and then to sedimentation (16).
