A diamond drill for working hard brittle materials comprises a body (1) connected to the cutting part (2) and made of a one-piece diamond-containing cylindrical bar with a longitudinal slot of a curved form. The longitudinal slot consists of a cylindrical section (3) mutually conjugating with a toroidal section (4). The cylindrical section (3) of the longitudinal slot is situated on the side of the working end of the diamond drill, whereas the surface at the toroidal section intersects the geometrical axis of rotation at the diamond drill and merges into the lateral cylindrical surface of the cutting part (2). The length (l1) of the cylindrical section (3) of the longitudinal slot varies within a range of 0.45 D to 1.0 D, the maximum width of the longitudinal slot varies within a range of 0.3 D to 0.5 D, the depth (C) of the longitudinal slot on the side of the working end varies within a range of 0.6 D to 0.7 D and the length (l2) of the toroidal section (4) of the longitudinal slot varies within a range of 1.5 D to 3.0 D.
