PROCESS FOR PRODUCING HIGH PURITY ISOBUTENE BY DEHYDRATING TERTIARY BUTANOL

This is a process consisting of(i) continuously supplying aq. soln. contg. about 40-90 wt.% of TBA into rxn. container, (ii) dehydrating as a homogeneous liq. phase at 80-150 deg.C and at 5-25 bar on the fixed-catalyst-bed composed of strong acidic ionexchange resin, (iii) fractionally distg. homogeneous liq. rxn. mixt. at distg. parts sepd. from rxn. chamber and separating isobuten from water/unreacted TBA and (iv) concentrating unreacted TBA by distn. and resupplying into rxn. container with circulation rate (in here a mixt. of newly supplied TBA and TBA/water mixt. contd. about 40-90 wt.% of TBA, with excess water expelled.
