Organophosphates resistant to hydrolysis and their preparation

A hydrolysis resistant solid organic phosphites (I) are prepd. by the treatment of powdered phosphie with 0.1-10 wt.% of a silane contg. 2 or more alkoxy gps., the hydrolysis of the silane, and the formation and deposition of a siliconic polymer on the surface of the particles of the powder. (I) are pref. suspended in an inert organic solvent which contains the silane and a water amt. sufficient for hydrolysing the silane, stirred at 20-25 deg.C for 10-120 mins., the solvent is evaporated off, and the obtd. powder is treated at a temp. of 100-140 deg.C for 10 mins to 12 hrs. under reduced pressure. (I) have a particle size of 50 micro-m to 1 mm.
