The lintel for mounting a roller blind etc. comprises a downwardly open housing with outer and inner covering connected via a top wall. The inner cover is provided with an insulating layer having a part-cylindrical internal recess for the winding roller. The inner covering consists of glass fibre-reinforced concrete and has a projecting through-shaped portion which contains the insulation and has a downward skirt portion leaving an L-section to fit on a horizontal door or window frame member. The insulation pref. consists of polystyrene foam and may be secured to the covering by adhesive. The lower ends of the coverings may contain steel reinforcing bars. ADVANTAGE - Simple lintel provides air-tight and heat-insulating connection with the door or window frame without the use of complex sectional metal members (as in DE3223880).
