The document file, especially for retaining documents by means of a clip passing through a pair of punched holes in one edge, incorporates its own punch, made in the form of a plastic flexible strip (5) which is stuck to the back of the file (1) along one edge (4) while its opposite end carries a pair of metal punching head (7) interacting with two holes in a metal strip (6). The file back also has a guide (2) for accurate centring of the document to be punched, and card backing panels (3) which act as supports to allow a document to be written on without removing it from the file.
