Vehicle traffic lights with red signal duration display - use successive lamp elements extinguished at spaced intervals during red light phase

The traffic lights incorporate an additional display (1) indicating the duration of the red lamp phase. The display (1) is provided by a series of evenly spaced lamp elements (2) lying in a common display plane. All the lamp elements (2) are illiminated at the beginning of the red light phase, with successive lights exteinguished, so that all the lamp elements (2) are extinguished at the end of the red light phase. Pref. the lamp elements(2) are arranged in a line or circle, they may be provided by individual light bulbs or by LED's. ADVANTAGE - Allows driver to determine remaining duration of red light phase.
