A method of protecting keratinous material from attack by insects that feed on keratin and from feeding damage, which comprises treating the material to be protected with compounds of the formula IMAGE wherein each of R1 and R2 independently represents hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, bromine, alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or alkoxy of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or R1 and R2 in the ortho-position to each other together represent the methylenedioxy radical, and R3 represents hydrogen, cyano, -C 3BOND CH of -CH=CH2.
