The cutting arm(s) on the underside of a support frame, turns about the shaft axis and swivels up and down about an axis transverse to this, and has an arm conveyor discharging into a radial conveyor turning with the cutter arm and ending in the shaft central area, in provision for sinking shafts, or similar. The cutting arm (22), together with the radial conveyor (28), travels on a ring guideway (14) concentric with the shaft axis. A vertical conveyor (29) is located roughly in the middle of the shaft, above the radial conveyor's discharge end. It can be in the form of a bucket conveyor. The frame (10) can be a platform with the ring guideway on its underside. Simple construction permits sinking of wide dia. shafts, and a number of cutting arms can be used simultaneously.
