Horizontal or near horizontal water supply systems with a solid metal filter structure especially Ranney wells, are cleaned by introducing a blasting cord into the horizontal or near horizontal filter pipes and the filter pipe and its surrounding is cleaned by the explosion of the blasting cord placed in axially. A device for introducing the blasting cord 10 comprises connectable rod elements 1 having semicircular connecting end sections 2, one of the end sections having a radial hole 4 and the other end section a pipe 5 fitting into the hole, stop rings 6 adjacent the end sections, against one of which a sleeve 7 enclosing the two end sections is bearing whilst against the other stop ring a compression spring 8 is bearing up which presses the sleeve to the first stop ring, and fastening rings 9 attached to the rod elements for attachment of the blasting cord.
