A connection part for joining a water meter to a T-shaped pipe connection (1), which is usually flush-mounted, has an inner pipe (7, 8) which is configured in the form of an L and can be inserted, by means of its short leg (8) which carries the sealing body (9), in a sealing manner into the continuous part (2, 3) of the pipe connection (1). On the longer leg (7) of the inner pipe (7, 8) there is non-rotatably arranged a supplementary pipe (15) which can move telescopically between an insertion position and a clamping position and, at its end which is nearer the shorter leg (8) of the inner pipe (7, 8), has an outwardly projecting cam surface (16) on the side directed away from said leg (8). In the insertion position, the cam surface (16) is located outside the transverse connection (4) of the pipe connection (1) and, in the clamping position, it is in engagement with the inner surface of the transverse connection (4).
