There is described a process for preparing an alkali metal, preferably ammonium iron, hexacyanoferrate of a particular particle size by reaction of an ammonium hexacyanoferrate with iron(III) chloride in the form of from 0.01 to 0.05 molar solutions in distilled water, dialysis of the reaction mixture in a dialysis tube having a pore size of from 15 to 20 ANGSTROM , drying of the tube contents at about 104 DEG C and breaking up the salt cake obtained with subsequent dissolution in water to separate off the coarse salt by centrifugation and isolation of the salt having a particle size between 1 and 5 mu m for the purposes of medical applications and decorporation of radioactive Cs-137 in animals.
