Process and plant for the combined thermal disposal of contaminated soil, refuse, special waste, sewage sludge and waste oil

The increasing amount of problematic residues and waste materials has led in recent times to a great expansion of the requirement for landfill for special waste. Therefore there are increased efforts to dispose of these substances in other ways. Thermal, physicochemical, biological and extractive processes are being used. Not only special waste, refuse and sewage sludges, but also waste oil and polluted soil can be simultaneously disposed of by the process according to the invention. Substances of this type are first dried, degassed at temperatures around 600@C and burnt and converted to ceramic at over 1200@C. The gas is passed over a coke bed at about 1200@C in a reducing atmosphere, then treated in a multi-stage gas scrubber and then burnt as a fuel in a rotary furnace. The exhaust gas therefrom passes via a spray tower into an electrostatic precipitator and from there into the stack or as a part-stream back to the degassing reactor. IMAGE
