Once walking aids are outside the manual reach of an individual they can be brought within reach with the manipulator. It comprises an element which can be extended from a small unit into a large unit and is provided on one end with a member that firmly holds the walking aid. The element can be flexibly wound, and comprise unfoldable or pluggable members and/or members that can be pushed into one another. The member can be designed as a magnet, hook or gripper. The manipulator is worn on the body.
