To achieve an efficient production of standard samples, for example notched-bar impact bending, bending or tensile samples, from blank workpieces, provision is made for using a CNC-controlled machining centre (11) and at least two chucking fixtures (12, 13) which each have groups of chucking units (15, 16, 17) and on each of which, on the one hand, the machining of the workpieces (4, 4', 4'') and, on the other hand, the rechucking of partially machined workpieces (4', 4'') or the extraction of finished samples (1, 2, 3) and the new supply of blank workpieces (4) are executed alternately.
