Method and device for continuously sampling and analysing cracked gas

A description is given of a method and a device for continuously sampling and analysing cracked gas. In order to make automatic sampling and analysis possible, the cracked gas sample is partially liquefied by cooling and fed to a separating container designed as a decanter precipitator. The liquid hydrocarbon and water fractions which separate in the separating container because of the differences in density are then collected in two separate measuring tubes. The remaining gas fraction is fed via a gas meter which measures the volume to two gas chromatographs, one for hydrogen and one for hydrocarbons. The measurement operation and calculations are all carried out by a computer or another automated system and this saves time and staff. The continuous automatic determination of the measured data makes it possible to improve the control of the cracking furnace process if a process control system is used. IMAGE
