The invention concerns a pronged grab whose prongs (5) are mounted on a bearer (3) so that they can move from an opened to a closed position. In order to achieve the lowest possible height of the construction, the prongs (5) have extensions (1) (angled-off portions) on the end opposite the tip (6) of the prong. A first set of connecting rods (2) are linked to the extensions (1) of the prongs (5), which rods (2) in turn are linked to the bearer (3). A second set of connecting rods (4) is linked to the extensions (1) at a distance from the linkage points (10) of the first set of connecting rods (2); when the grab is in the opened position, the first and second sets of connecting rods (2, 4) cross.
