Integral reactor pipe section for studying heterogeneously catalytic processes in chemical research, in particular for obtaining process data in particle layers. An internal tube of different length and diameter and packed with inert particles or catalyst particles has the temperature of its outer side controlled in such a way that exactly defined flow conditions having location-independent rotational symmetry with simultaneously very good heat transfer conditions are thereby achieved. This is carried out by the internal tube fitted into a casing tube according to Fig. 1 being provided on the outside with a rectangular screw thread groove, with the selection of the pitch and the configuration of the thread faces making it possible to match the heat transfer conditions to the requirements of the test. The inflow or outflow of the heat transfer medium occurs tangentially in the flanges via a ring channel at equal cross-section into the screw channel. IMAGE
