The subject matter of the invention is a direction indicator device for motor vehicles, having a travel direction switch which can be operated manually and is connected to a flashing light circuit, and having a transmitter element which is attached to the rotatable steering column and fixedly arranged switching elements which can be actuated successively by the transmitter element as a function of the direction of rotation of the steering column. In this arrangement, an electronic evaluation circuit is provided which is connected both to the flashing light circuit and to the travel direction switch and to three switching elements which can be actuated by the transmitter element which is attached to the steering column and are arranged one next to the other in a fixed fashion at a specifiable distance. The said evaluation circuit is connected to a restoring element. The switching elements consist of reed contacts whilst the restoring element consists of a relay switch which is operatively connected in mechanical fashion to the travel direction switch. IMAGE
