The load lifting device supported from a hoist or crane hook has a load carrier, open at sides and front to carry e.g. a stack of bricks. The top is attached to a U-shaped arm which can be controlled to rest on a projecting ledge or floor, so as to swing the load carrier inwards, resting it on the ledge or floor below, ready for discharge. The top limb of the arm carries a tilting angle piece to fit over the edge of the upper floor, and the bottom limp incorporates a slot holding a swinging link from which the load carrier is suspended.
