THE INVENTION RELATES TO A PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF HOMOGENEOUS COPOLYAMIDES FROM HEXAMETHYLENEDIAMINE, SINGLE ADIPIC ACID OR MIXTURE WITH AT LEAST ONE OTHER SHORT CHAIN CARBOXYLIC DIACID AND A FATTY ACID DIMER. /P P IN ACCORDANCE WITH THIS PROCESS, A PREPOLYMER IS PREPARED FROM THE SHORT DIACIDE (S) AND THE EXCESS HEXAMETHYLENEDIAMINE IN THE PRESENCE OF A CONSISTENT CATALYST EITHER IN A MINERAL OXYACID OR STRONG ORGANIC, EITHER IN AN ALKALINE OR ALKALINE EARTH SALT DERIVED FROM THIS ACID; THEN IN A SECOND TIME THE PREPOLYMER OBTAINED WITH THE FATTY ACID DIMER IS REACTED. /P P THESE COPOLYAMIDES HAVE VARIOUS APPLICATIONS IN THE PLASTICS OR TEXTILE INDUSTRIES.
