The subject of the invention is microbiological products for moistening organic materials and for fertilising soils and processes for their manufacture. A starter according to the invention consists of a mixture of a first culture of cellulolytic microorganisms which have been selected from a sample of fermented organic materials, and of a second culture of nitrogen-fixing microorganisms which have been selected from a sample of nodules of leguminous plants, each culture containing a specific medium, and both cultures are attached to an absorbent support after incubation and are mixed before delivery to the users. One application is the enrichment of the microflora of soils which are naturally poor or which are artificially depleted (disinfection) and the biodegradation of organic substrates which are more or less difficult to ferment such as straw, grape marc and vegetable wastes.
