The subject of the invention is a funicular for a variable slope. The funicular is composed of a cabin 1 mounted on a chassis 2. The chassis 2 comprises a horizontal plate 3 which receives the said cabin. The horizontal plate is supported by vertical bars which are integral with axles carrying the uphill 8 and downhill 9 wheels. Longitudinal beams join the axle of the uphill wheels 8 and the axle of the downhill wheels 9. These longitudinal beams form, with the horizontal plate 3, an angle which is a function of the average slope. For this purpose, the downhill vertical bars are longer than the uphill vertical bars. The track of the uphill wheels 8 is a pair of rails 12, called the "inner" rails because their separation is less than the width of the cabin.
