The invention relates to a device allowing a bow to be bent without effort, and without risk, and the string to be fitted in an optimal manner, whatever the power of the bow. It consists of a pneumatic jack 8 fixed to the base 1 and surmounted by a half-loop 9, of two adjustable and sliding arms 2 and 3. At the end of the upper part 3, the window 4 is situated. The choice of the inclination of the arms is a function of the length of the bow to be fitted. When the user desires to fit the string, he places the handle of the bow in the half-loop 9, the ends of the bow are held in the windows 4 situated at the end of the arms 3. Sending pressure into the jack raises the centre of the bow, and bends it. Holding the ends has the effect of bringing them together, and this considerably facilitates the stringing of the bow.
