The invention consists in adding to the powdered alloy a pulverulent reinforcing product chosen from oxides, carbides, nitrides and mixtures thereof, in the form of grains or short fibres, in a quantity such that the volume fraction of the addition is between 5 and 40 %, in then milling the combined powders for a sufficient period to obtain a distribution of the reinforcing product inside each grain of alloy but without exceeding the period after which the ratio of reduction in the particle size of the reinforcing product is greater than 5. It finds its application in the production of composite materials exhibiting improved ductility and heat resistance. IMAGE
