Method for producing a nuclear gauge for measuring the quantity of material remaining after consumption in a tank 1 under ultra-low gravity, whatever the thermodynamic phases of the said material, its temperature, its pressure and the value of the ultra-low gravity, by means of a neutron source 2, preferably located at the centre of the tank and a prompt neutron or gamma-photon detector consisting for example of a scintillator 5 and a photomultiplier 6, the said detector not necessarily being located in direct view of the source.
