The invention relates to a box made of corrugated cardboard comprising a special structure and cut-out allowing it to adapt to the height of its contents. It relates also to a mechanical device for the economic manufacture of this structure. This box comprises several closely spaced grooves 12 perpendicular to the height of the box and cuts 2 on the four vertical corners at right angles to the grooves 12. The grooves 12 are formed by rotary machines comprising parts 14 and 15 on which the grooving wheels are grouped. The invention applies to the manufacture of so-called "American" boxes. IMAGE
