Each of the individually controllable delivery devices (1, 2, 3) for forwarding the components (K1, K2, K3) of a fancy yarn is associated with a separate pulse generator (G1, G2, G3) whose pulse period corresponds to a unit of length of the yarn component delivered by the associated delivery device. A pulse generator (64) which picks up the spindle revolutions is associated with the spindle drive. Between the pulse generators (G1 to G4) and a programmable counter (8, 10) is provided a selector switch (6) which according to a programme control system (7) at the end of each step or phase of fancy yarn production switches the pulse generator of the delivery device running at the lowest speed in the next step to the counter (8, 10) or if all the delivery devices are to be stopped in the next step switches the spindle drive generator to the counter.
