PRODUCTION OF SURFACE-METALLIZED POLYMER PRODUCT

PURPOSE:To produce the title polymer formed product having a metallic layer having excellent release resistance by forming a polymer formed product contg. dispersed metallic salts from a soln. of the polymer and metallic salts in a common solvent, and treating the formed product with a reducing agent. CONSTITUTION:One hundred pts.wt. of polyacrylonitrile polymer as a film- forming and fiber-forming polymer and 1-200 pts.wt. of the sulfate, nitrate, chloride, etc., of the inorg. metals belonging to the groups Ib, IIb, VIa, and VIII of the periodic table such as Fe, Cu, Ni, Co, Zn, Cr, and Pd are dissolved in an org. solvent such as chloroform, benzene, and acetone. The soln. is formed into a film or a fiber by casting or wet spinning. The formed product is brought into contact with a reducing soln. contg. 0.01-20wt.% boron hydride to form a surface metallic layer integrated with the polymer over the whole surface of the formed product, and a polymer formed product having a surface metallic layer having excellent resistance to release and mechanical stress is produced.
