METHOD FOR ANTICORROSIVE LINING OF LIQUID STORAGE TANK BOTTOM

PURPOSE:To permit an accurate and easy anticorrosive treatment of the inner surface of a tank, by adhering to the bottom of a tank a rubber tape consisting of chiefly of oil resisting synthetic rubber such as unvulcanized upon application and vulcanized or semivulcanized upon removal. CONSTITUTION:An anticorrosive paint 3 is normally applied the bottom plates 1A and 1B of a tank and a welded joint 2 therebetween. Upon inspection of the welded joint 2 of the bottom pates 1A and 1B, the anticorrosive paint 3 is partially removed from the bottom plates along each side of the welded joint 2. After completion of the inspection, a tape 10 consisting of oil resisting acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber is applied to the paint-removed portion. The rubber tape 10, upon application, is held in such an elastic and unvalcanized condition as to permit the paint to easily adhere to the irregular surface contour for facilitating the bonding operation and, upon removal, held in a vulcanized or semivulcanized condition for facilitating the removal operation, whereby an accurate anticorrosive treatment of the inner surface of the tank can be effected with the tape 10 without conducting the pretreatment requiring a high degree of purification.
