PURPOSE:To reduce the size of a tool adaptor and increase its rigidity by providing a tool grasping part for grasping a grinded wheel at the forward end part of an output shaft part connected with an input shaft part through a friction transmitting planetary speed increasing mechanism in a fixed housing. CONSTITUTION:By grasping a grinding wheel by a tool grasping part of an output shaft part D, the grinding wheel is held at a tool adaptor having a built-in speed increasing mechanism. By action of a tool replacing hand engaged with a circular groove part 6 at an input shaft part A of this adaptor, a shank part 3 of the tool adaptor in which the desired grinding wheel is installed at its tool grasping part is installed at a main shaft, when a fixed housing part B is also connected with a fixed part of a machining center. If the main shaft is driven to rotate in this condition, the input part A is integrated with the main shaft to rotate to the fixed housing part B of which rotation is restricted. This rotation is sped up through the friction transmitting planetary speed increasing mechanism 21 to be transmitted to the tool grasping part at the forward end of the output shaft part D, thereby the grinding wheel rotates at a high speed.
